Call for Nationwide Swab Test in Singapore! Singaporean, time to be UNITED!

The Issue

We need to be more aggressive to tackle the COVID-19 situation in Singapore, instead of passively waiting for the cases to go down. In view of the current situation, indeed the numbers are going down slowly, but the concern is that it is actually spreading deeply into the communities. As you can see that there are several locations found with confirmed cases as of 6 July 2020, the community cases increased since the reopening on 1 July 2020 (source: https://infographics.channelnewsasia.com/covid-19/sgcircuitbreaker.html?type=embed. We are not only finding confirmed cases from clusters, but from different communities. It is spreading!

Compared with the budget our government set aside for this COVID-19 and prepare for long term battle, with far lesser money spent, we can/should aggressively conduct a nationwide swab test together with other tight measures, meaning everyone living in Singapore shall do the test, and this is very efficient and cost effective comparing to the impact on long term battle. Most importantly, it can end the COVID-19 the soonest. Remember how Wuhan tested 11mil population in 10 days.

Otherwise, there could be a more serious second wave coming. Just want to share, I went to the office today, and was told by my colleague that her mother is suspected to have covid-19, and advised by the doctor to go for the swab test. The issue is, her mom still has to go to the hospital on her own, and do the test. In the event if she is infected, all those people she spoke to on the way to the hospital might all get infected, too. That's why besides swab tests, we need to allocate transportations for the suspect cases. With a closed loop system, then we can find all the cases that are infected, even those no-symptom cases.

Imagine, if the mother is confirmed, and the daughter is infected without knowing in advance, I and my whole family could also be infected without knowing, hundreds of people would have been infected before any precaution is taken, even though we are seeing 18 cases per day, but this number would surge later on. We have to take a more serious and aggressive approach, this approach could affect a lot of people's lives in a period of time, but it will end the pandemic in Singapore the soonest.

Just like China, we would end the pandemic quicker, and open the market faster compared to now, and the economy would resume faster and better.

As a Singaporean, I don't like to be restricted, and I don't like to take the swab test, but if this is for my family, it is for the greater good, I'm willing to sacrifice my short term freedom and suffer the pain. I would like to call everyone to take up the responsibility, get united, sign this petition to push our government to take the aggressive action to fight against the pandemic.
