Mental health should be made an essential part of school curriculum from tender age.

The Issue

This is a petition in favour that mental health should be included as an essential part of school curriculums in india from a very tender age as mental health deterioration is not a result of a day, but it deteriorates over time and gradually, which goes unnoticed till the child becomes an adult as children are never given a reason that their mental health can also worsen due to many issues at school such as intentional or unintentional bullying, comparison, issues at home such as parental issues that affect them at a deep level, abuse of any sort which remains hidden but induces a certain emotional burden in their minds to which if taken care of from a very young age, mental health can be improved and a better society can be build for all the children as well as adults.

We people are the ones who can bring the change in this society. If you're a parent or a student, you can help recreate a society where love and understanding is needed which can be done only if we create an environment inclusive of all sorts of beings. Start accepting people as they are and instead of criticizing someone for their failure or lack of coping skills, help them out and be a friend to them or help them reach out to someone they can take help from. For eg- therapists, psychologists, psychiatrist, counselors etc-:

As for the curriculum alteration, government of india should lay down rules to include mental health as an important part of schools, colleges and other institutions in the form of a permanent subject, regular talks, habitual workshops, routine mental health activities,or keeping aside a single day per month purely for mental health in the institutions. Also appointing teachers purely for mental health subject in the institutions.
