Ban TikTok in India

Ban TikTok in India
The Issue
Social media, most probably the medium through which you landed upon this petition. And if you are active on social media platforms, you probably would have heard about the YouTube vs TikTok battle, a competition created by their users respectively to establish the superiority of the video-sharing platforms. Now this competition escalated to a battle where users started roasting each other, a lot of big names on YouTube and so-called stars from TikTok got involved. However, it is an undeniable fact that the censorship and content filtration on TikTok is awful. Even though some TikTok users focus on creating quality content. Most users follow the trends which unfortunately happen to be very misguiding for our youth all across the country. Videos containing hate speech and other anti-national sentiments are spread through TikTok. As much as I like to stay neutral on the YouTube vs TikTok battle, it has been made clear that TikTok serves no good and productive purpose as compared to YouTube for the youth (Emphasis on youth as most of their observable userbase are under the age bracket of 30-40). To add to it, TikTok told content moderators to suppress videos from users who were too ugly or poor and asked them to censor certain political speech in live streams. If certain users or "Stars" as they like to call it on the TikTok platform were not enough, the company's content filtration parameters encourage more and more discrimination, racism, and hate speech. Also to mention that TikTok is a Chinese developed application by ByteDance which also happens to be Chinese. I would rather refrain from explaining why I mentioned the China part. If you know, you know. Local is Vocal. Exactly a year ago, in April 2019, the Madras High Court had banned TikTok, citing the spread of pornographic content on the video-sharing platform. The ban lasted 20 days after which the HC itself revoked its earlier order. I urge the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, The censor board, and the Supreme court of India to take similar and stricter action towards making the use of the TikTok platform illegal in India.
