Passengers in India who booked their flights before Coronavirus disruption are now bearing the brunt of govt indifference. The right to get your money back in absence of the promised service is a fundamental right. However, citizens are being forced to run from pillar to post in order to get the refund of the amount they paid in advance for cancelled flights.

Pushing passengers to accept the amount in the form of a voucher or a wallet is completely unfair and disregards all legal and consumer rights.

It disregards the freedom of a consumer to choose if and when she needs a service. The usual conditions related to cancellations and refunds only apply in case the request for it originates from the consumer. In circumstances outside the consumer control, any flight cancellations due to govt directives should not be a burden on the consumer, especially when citizens are going through tough times and adversity.

It is incumbent on the govt to make provisions for full refunds back to their accounts or payment mode for all flights cancelled due to Coronavirus pandemic.

This petition is to urge the Minister of Aviation to be considerate of thousands of such citizens who have become a scapegoat of these hurriedly implemented rules.
