Minister Wood: make our streets safe to cycle

Minister Wood: make our streets safe to cycle
Why this petition matters
We want a future where everyone, regardless of their age or ability, can safely cycle in Aotearoa.
We ask the Transport Minister to treat cycling safety with urgency and call for a fully funded, national-level plan for safe cycling in Aotearoa.
People riding bikes on our streets are disproportionately at risk of being killed or seriously injured. We simply can’t accept this any longer.
We all deserve to have safe and accessible options for getting around our towns and cities. Our tamariki deserve a future where they have transport independence and can get to school in a way that’s safe, active and healthy.
Providing safe and convenient options for walking and biking must also be part of our climate response.
We urgently need safe, separated infrastructure for cycling and we need a fully funded plan to achieve this. In the UK, the government has committed to a bold vision for walking and cycling in its strategy Gear Change - there’s no reason why we can’t do the same here.
Sign and share this petition to call for a future where we can all share the streets safely. It’s time to be heard.
