This is a petition for Daniel Paul Sheehy who passed away in a house fire on the 14/03/2012. The Coroner ruled the most likely cause of the fire was a carelessly disregarded cigarette. We argued that he had no cigarettes in his poccession that night . His father tried unsuccessfully to rescue his son, his son was kneeling at the end of the bed, and told his Dad he couldnt get up. Daniel had been kidnapped 3 weeks prior to his death because he was friends with 2 rival gangs, he was accused of running information between the two, but this was not true. The ring leader of one gang was sighted after the fire had started and spoke to a family member. the law protects this person and he refused to be interviewed over his movements on the night. THE DPP refused to run Daniels kidnapping case as he stated it was to weak the accused were found not guilty in four other trials. with the exception of Gary wright who pleaded guilty to Assault on another matter, his co accussed were found not guilty.  Detectives from Melton CIU,had requested a Task force 12 months prior to his kidnapping but were denied the request. The family want to know why. we believe the police did not do there job properly, they failed to interview prime witnesses,overlooked evidence and now are trying to cover their tracks, and as a result there is no justice for our son. To appeal the Coroners findings in supreme court it will cost 60,000 dollars with the best outcome being an open finding. We ask everyone to sign this on behalf of our family. The only time the media help is when it suits them, Please will you support our cause for justice, no family should live this in life .
