Petition updateNew laws needed to protect against neighbours' cigarette smokeForum: Number of complaints a poor gauge of non-smokers affected at home

My forum letter is published in The Straits Times today. With successful quit rate being abysmally low at 5%, it is as good as asking non-smokers to endure toxic secondhand smoke from neighbours indefinitely.

The Government cannot ignore non-smokers' cries any longer. We need to put a stop to neighbours' smoke drift.

Please write-in to ST Forum and TODAY Voices on MP Louis Ng's Adjournment Motion or in reference to my letter. I cannot be the only voice for victims of secondhand smoke. More of my letters are rejected these days because editors cannot keep publishing letters on the SAME topic by the SAME writer.

Let policymakers know your concerns and suggestions in print. They do read and keep a record of such letters. As I mentioned previously, many improvements like no smoking 5m around bus stops, cigarette display ban, Orchard Road no-smoking zone had resulted from my forum letters over the years, which led to public consultations and eventual implementation.

EVERY secondhand smoke victim has a part to play (please see 5-pointer suggestions on what you can do) and we need to work together if we want to enjoy a smoke-free living environment. A battle cannot be fought by 1 or 2 soldiers alone. Thank you!
