The most recent ocean research concluded that oceans are vital to keeping our climate and people alive, fish swim up and down mixing cold water and warm water together therefore stabilizing the temperature in our climate. Marine plants play a big part in absorbing and storing carbon, to understand why this is important you have to look at how coral reefs and other marine plants grow. When fish secrete it’s actually food for these plants, if we continue to take all of the fish out of our oceans by continuing to commercial fish, we are taking away these marine plants food supply making it impossible for these essential plants to get food, regrow and store carbon. This problem may seem unfixable on a worldwide scale but it all starts with one country trying to make a difference. Even if it’s not fixable on a mass scale one very essential thing every single person can do is stop consuming sea food all together, the reason this would make a huge positive impact on our oceans animals is because the biggest threat to all marine life by far is commercial fishing. Studies have shown that over 300,000 whales and dolphins are killed every year Worldwide, most of these animals are discarded as by catch and their lifeless bodies are then thrown back into the ocean.
