Turakina Māori Girls College is a state integrated Presbyterian School; it is one of only three Māori Girls Boarding Schools in Aotearoa; it is the only Māori Girls Boarding School in the Whanganui-Manawatu district, located in Marton.  It has a long and proud history of generating Māori leaders spanning 110 years.

We believe the decision to close the school is being rushed without proper consultation with the School community.

We, the undersigned call on the Minister of Education, Hon Hekia Parata, to stop the closure of Turakina Māori Girls College and allow the school to continue it’s 110 year legacy and work with the school to find a way forward.
