At the end of February, Ireland was hit by bad weather. The Beast from the East met storm Emma which resulted in red alert warnings in areas of Ireland due to the snow, cold and extreme conditions.
During that time we had NO updates on the animals at AHAR. Doubtful those abroad would have even been aware of the weather crisis going by AHAR's Facebook page. Below we used the wonderful My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR) to compare what they did against AHAR during the same period - overcoming many challenges to reach the animals in need.
AHAR - WHAT DID YOU DO FOR THE ABANDONED SOULS IN NEED?
During the Beast from the East, this is what MLHR did to HELP those horses abandoned, scared and hungry. They faced obstacles but NEVER gave up. This is not a fairytale - this is reality!
EDIT- MLHR is 100% volunteers run. All selflessly going out to help those in distress and starving night and day. They have a GOFundMe appeal to raise money FOR the animals.

Then we have AHAR. Being treated to the current manager's fluffy socks, the pony in her house and a couple of dogs and a photo of birds. We did however, have photos of ex AHAR animals in the snow. Despite the Manager's love of a photo opportunity, NOT ONCE given an update on the animals at AHAR. All 'rescues' conveniently being delayed.
Rescue is NOT that way.
It is immediate.
Reactive.
NOT sitting by the fire.
It is NOT weather dependent.
It is NOT buying at fairs.
The Chair and Board were also noticable by their lack of comment during the crisis. How AHAR animals, staff or volunteers were managing. The plan in place for such a crisis.
ONE WEEK after the crisis - which had a red alert weather warning issued - AHAR founder and current manager did finally update about it. Claimed several burst pipes and the heat lamp bulbs blowing. That the hay and straw arrived. Still not updating on how the animals coped.
Most telling was not saying how all those dogs managed with being confinded during the bad weather. As that is the norm at AHAR - they are not exercised daily.
•Did the hay and feed arrive before the weather hit?
•Was someone on site all the time?
•Why only photographs of the manager at home - none on site at the farm of the AHAR animals?
•How did the animals at AHAR fare?
•Did they all make it?
Compare that to MLHR video straight after the crisis, showing their amazing work. Then read the AHAR current manager's offering. https://www.facebook.com/ahar.ie/posts/1835321243154227
