No Fuel Opposite Our School Ever
Jan 29, 2019

Unbelievably, the council has granted numerous extensions to the developer to give them more and more time - many months, in fact - to completely redo their inaccurate and misleading documentation that 'supports' their development application.

The latest is a deadline of 5 February 2019 for a traffic impact assessment (TIA) report that meets the many council requirements imposed on them following submission of their second unacceptable and inaccurate TIA report.

We have been working tirelessly during this waiting period to determine where we can best target this inappropriate DA to stop it in its tracks. As the DA was deemed code assessable by the council (a petrol station is apparently an acceptable use in a central business district), it makes it incredibly difficult to challenge. However, we are determined.

Having a 24/7, 8 bowser petrol station with two fast-food outlets only 40 metres from over 400 primary school kids is not acceptable. The evidence about the detrimental health effects is compelling. Other countries respect this evidence and make policies accordingly. It is time our governments - at all levels - did the same. They have a duty of care.

We will be calling on your help very shortly to stop this DA. Stay tuned for how you can get involved and stand up for the right of our town's children to learn in a safe and healthy environment.
