Justice for Kobi - Request for Review of the sentence

The Issue

Thank you so much to the wonderful "Sunday Life" for the 2 page spread on Kobi , fantastic write up , you guys gave this wee man the attention and dignity he so much deserved ....

Mother and Son Kimberly & Jack Moore who starved their dog Kobi to death....Currently living in Ballyregan Road , Dundonald , Northen Ireland

Moore ( the mother) knew she had a dog but chose to starve her four year old dog to death , her son Jack Moore was witnessed leaving Newtownards Court on Friday , laughing ..

Both got a pathetic 12 month conditional discharge , not even a suspended sentence.

Information from the court reveals that poor Jack Moore is out on the sick at the moment from his job working as a porter in a local hospital ? He is apparantly suffering with depression ( so he told the judge)... Difference is Jack Moore has a voice to ask for help with his ( claimed illness) , Jack Moore can walk to his doctors and ask for medication to treat his depression. Maybe Jack wants to ask himself , how many months of depression wee Kobi went through , how many months of isolation and sadness he endured alone before his organs started failing , before the hunger cramps and painful stomach pains set in ?

Kobi, unlike Jack couldn't ask for help , he was dying , he was dying in agony , he was alone and the people he thought loved him ?? were responsible for his suffering and consequent death. 2 x weeks it took for wee Kobi to die , 2 agonising painful weeks of organ failure , lying in his own crap and urine , no dignity , nothing

Kobi was locked in a pen, forgotten by the people he placed his trust in , his family , they left him lying in a kennel situated within the pen , he was afraid , hungry & whimpering for help. Kobi was saturated in his own faeces , his pen stank of urine, proving he was forced to exist in horrific conditions for a long time, by people he thought loved him. No dignity

Kobi's body was left to decompose for god knows how long and they still didnt know he was dead ?? It was only when Belfast Animal Welfare Officer received a report of a dead dog that Kobi's suffering came to light.. They ignored this wee man for so long , how can anyone be so cruel to a trusting , innocent lovely dog. He probably stood for months looking up at the house wishing someone would notice him , dogs would love attention more than food , he prob barked , called out for attention as much as his wee voice would let him , in the end he didn't have the strength to carryon and died of starvation.. His family , the people who showed him love at one point , had absolutley no interest.

The justice for Kobi's months of isolation , mental suffering and painful death ????? well there was no justice .. Judge Hamill from Newtownards Magistrates Court didn't care either , as he let them walk , not even a suspended sentence .. Judge Hamill claims " It was not Wilful Cruelty" ....... Judge Hamill ????? This case falls under the highest terms of the Animal Welfare legislation , they were charged and plead guilty to " Animal Suffering" which warrants a 2 year custodial sentence .. not a suspended sentence and certainly not a conditional discharge ?

The judge in our opinion is no better than these 2 and has ruined the hard work people of NI have spent so long in fighting for to get justice for Animal Suffering. How can judge Hamill look at the photos of a starved dead dog , vet reports of the time it took this dog to die , and do absolutley nothing .

Belfast Animal Welfare Officer prepared this case for court , gathered evidence , had to take horrific photos , has visions of these animals day in and day out and yet keeps fighting so hard to get justice .... Not to mention the impact something like this will have in doing this job , she was let down , were sure she feels Kobi was let down ... She did all she could , this case failed when it reached the Judge

Animal Isolation leads to being forgotten and death , Animal Isolation must be recognised within our welfare system and must be addressed while it is happening , before it gets this far..

This whole case from start to finish is bloody shameful !!!!!!

Please email: David Ford and ask can we have this case reviewed , we have a Legislation in Northern Ireland in which starving a dog to death warrants to 2 year custodial sentence.
