Ryan's rule was introduced into Queensland Health following recommendations from coroner in relation to care not given to a boy named Ryan in a timely manner. The family asked for increased care for him but felt that no one was listening to them. Ryan's rule is now a process whereby patients, carers etc of all ages can ring for assistance if they feel they are not getting appropriate care after repeatedly asking.
