Petitioning Minister for Community Safety Jack Dempsey MP

We want our Minister to stand with us, not against us

Queensland Firefighters and Ambulance Officers put their lives on the line every day.

They are dedicated professionals, who deserve the support of the government to do their job safely.

Cost cutting will risk community safety while the governments demands to remove ‘consultative’ provisions will mean that the experts are taken out of the decision making process all together.

We think that the Minister for Community Safety should be standing up for Ambulance Officers and Firefighters, and call on him to guarantee ongoing consultation arangements, and that there will be no cost cutting in these vital front line areas.

Letter to
Minister for Community Safety Jack Dempsey MP
I am registering my concern about the current attitude of the government and the emergency services ministry towards our critical services.

I am concerned about the indiscriminate cost cutting being pushed in the government’s enterprise bargaining demands. This cost cutting will risk community safety and the demands to remove ‘consultative’ provisions, can only damage the modern professional dialogue front line staff need to have with managers.

I urge you to meet with union representatives to resolve these urgent concerns.

Emergency workers want their minister to stand up for them and not join in with the attacks on conditions of employment.

Thank you for considering this email.
