Mind Matters: Advocating for Mental Health Awareness and Wellness

The Issue

Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn ‘t mean you can should, or need to do it alone.” This inspirational quote by Lisa Olivera says it all. We stand before you not only as a student but as an advocate for the cause of being aware of the wellbeing of our own core— mental health.

In the generation we live in, we often find ourselves ignorant of our surroundings— we overlook the silent war that each and every one of us fight within ourselves. Our mental health is a fundamental of the kind of life we live in, it is a part of each and one of us. It helps us fight the silent battles in our everyday life, it gives us the ability to cope with life's challenges. Neglecting it would just be another way of saying that you've already given up— and in life, you're only given a chance to choose the journey you will walk through once. In every chapter you go through— there are endless challenges that may welcome you, giving up on the walls that guard the gates of your empire— on our mental health, is just like surrendering the empire that took you forever to build.

Advocating mental health resembles separating the hindrances that block you from opportunity, fostering a realm of understanding and compassion. Recognizing the health of our mental and accepting its flaws, and requesting help isn't a shortcoming yet a solidarity to look for the improvement of your wellbeing. Deciding to confront the endless challenges of life is a strength and courage that everybody will forever admire. We should make a reality where not even one of us fears supporting their wellbeing and peace of mind. An environment where everybody will give some assistance to those confronting their challenges. The path we may walk through will be loaded with thorns that will give us scars and wounds from walking through it, yet toward the finish of that way is an immense land with ethereal perspectives, a peaceful place that all of us has the right to live in.

Allow us to face and challenge the stereotypes that surrounds the wellbeing of our core, let us destroy the confusions. Build an environment that values all of the fights we won, a society that values your resilience and courage to face your silent battles, despite of realizing the difficulties you'll face. By advocating for mental health, you will become one of the foundation of a society that focuses on the well being of each individual that has a place in it. Promoting mental health awareness and wellness in the working environment and school, we can engage people to perceive the indications of mental distress. Fostering an environment where individuals can respond to these challenges with empathy and unconditional support. Don’t let the problems that we face separate us from reality, lately there is a young actor that sadly met his end and was struggling with his mental health.

However, his brother said, “In his adolescence, he struggled with his mental health. If you are experiencing current distress and are in need of Urgent Attention, please proceed to the nearest locations where people that specialize in this field work in, such as hospitals and therapy offices.” He said. Having open and reasonable assistance for each individual, without cntemplating the costs that might accompany those services. Nobody has the right to face boundaries for the help they need due to their status, all ought to be dealt with similarly regardless of what that individual's way of life is. Fostering a community that normalizes talking and sharing about their mental health, a society where you are allowed to act naturally, having open dialogue and sharing experiences to everybody without fear of being ignored or criticized. A place where you will feel seen, heard, and understood, fostering an environment that knows about every one’s mental health and challenges will make a world loaded with harmony. Allow us to be partners for the people who are needing some assistance, let us be their listeners without them considering being judged. We should make a reality where our mental health isn't just viewed as an idea but a fundamental of our lives and will be a significant starting point for a solid and stable connections and successful life.

For those who are dealing with such challenges, have wounds and scars that cannot be seen by the naked eye, having to face challenges without being both mentally and physically prepared. May you have the courage to stand up and take the helping hand that we offer for the peace of your mind and the wellness of your health. In the world we live in where everyone has their own lives to live and survive in, making them become ignorant of those around them, you should not be afraid to be yourself. A world where there is empathy and unconditional support may be impossible to achieve, but let us not lose faith in ourselves and do our best to face challenges that may come before us, despite it becoming more tiring each war you face, i hope you won't give up on fighting. Thank you for joining me in this attempt to help achieve a healthy and well aware society, because, in the end of the chapter, a society that is well versed in the wellbeing of ones mental health is a strong, compassionate, and a resilient environment to be able to live in.
