During her time as the Activities Coordinator/ASB Advisor at Milpitas High School, Joanna Butcher treated her students extremely poorly— often raising her voice, humiliating students in front of their peers, causing students to feel anxious to ask her for help, even swearing at students, and more.

For years, many of her colleagues and the administration were aware of her behavior, but she was still never held accountable for mistreating students and is still employed at MHS as the Athletics Director.

We demand that her actions are not just acknowledged by the Milpitas Unified School Board and MHS administration, but also that she is held accountable for her emotional and verbal abuse against students. We demand that MHS administration listens to our stories and removes her from MUSD, effective immediately, as she has harmed multiple students throughout the years without any repercussions. We demand that MHS administration finally takes action and is proactive to ensure the safety, mental health, and overall well-being of its students.
