Stop the BAN: Port Antigua is going to ban all Sandbar Boating
The Issue
The Village of Islamorada is about to BAN ALL BOATING at the Port Antigua and White Marlin Sandbar/Beach.
The Village of Islamorada would like to create a 300-ft No-Vessel Zone/Swim Area, that would BAN ALL BOATING. This means boaters won’t be able to use the sandbar on the bayside of Port Antigua and White Marlin within 300 feet of the beach.
What this would do is to FORCE FAMILY BOATERS to anchor outside of the no-wake zone, into four or five feet of water, in the wake of speed boats—in other words, much more hazardous.
At the heart of the issue is the excessive noise and trespassing that a few boaters are responsible for. While we agree that the local residents shouldn’t be subjected to loud noise or trespassing on their property, there are already laws on the books that, if enforced, can eliminate these nuisances.
Please sign this petition to protect responsible, family-friendly boating.
Stop the city from banning all boats from anchoring!
