Raiden SHOGUN started this petition to MiHoYo

People complained about the innocuous name of the upcoming Polearm set to release at the same time as the Raiden Shogun, in response to this, they have changed the name to Engulfing Lightning. However, a lot of players got attached to its previous name, and most agree that the reason that some people rejected the old name was because they didn't understand the real Mythology behind it.

The name is in reference to the Sword "Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi" (Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven), one of the three imperial regalia of Japan, and was once wielded by a god that the Japanese royal family are said to be descendants of. It it most commonly known as "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi" (Grass Cutter), this is in reference to a story where a warlord tried to assassinate a prince who wielded the sword by leading him to a field and setting the grass around him on fire, he then started cutting the grass around him in desperation using the sword and realised it had the power to control the wind.

The popularity of mythological sword within its country and royal family is comparable to Excalibur, and not having any reference to it in game would be rather tragic.

If the developers at miHoYo or the localisation team come across this petition, then on behalf of the community, please consider reverting the name of the sword back to what it was or calling it "Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi".

Thank you
