Hi everyone,
I am now back home again after 2 weeks on holiday in the UK.
Apparently, according to the latest news on the Madeira Island Blog, there has been a change in the law regarding the ownership of pet dogs and cats in Portugal and it certainly reads well and radical changes have been made to do with ownership, responsibility and making it illegal to mstreat any pet and turn them out onto the streets, and fines being handed out together with sentences for bad offenders, if this is not adhered to. I can only think that PAN have had a say in this as it is one of their policies.
We can only wait and see how this goes and hopefully things will start to change for the better.
Their next mission is to abolish bullfighting, but this will take much longer to do i would think as the other political parties back this! as it brings in revenue! for the government and also associated businesses. However the majority of Portuguese people are against this cruelty and campaign to end it. and many Bullrings are now closed in Portugal.
