Hi all,

There is a blog on Ajuda a Alimentar Caes facebook page regarding an 8 year old St. Bernard who has been chained to a tree in Madeira and left with no one to care for him for the past 7 years, except going round to put food and water out sometimes.

Sadly this happens all too often on Madeira and there is no excuse for this cruelty and neglect. All too often the people are indifferent and don't intervene, 

The dog was found recently by Ajuda a Alimentar Caes and taken to the vets. It was emaciated, and had heartworm and therefore will need to be hospitalised for the heartworm treatment. Luckily, local businesses and people have given donations to pay for this, something that the government should be doing but doesn't, just empty promises, and yet they have got back into power for another 4 years!

Our little Carrie has seen the vet for some injections to ease her sickness and anxiety, so hopefully she may settle down now for a while....
