Overturn Midlothian Council's decision to close Roslin Glen to vehicles.

The Issue

Midlothian council plans to instate a TTRO (Temporary Traffic Regulations Order) on the B7003 Roslin Glen road.
The idea of this is completely irrational. The traffic levels on the road are very high and alternative routes are already extremely busy.
This is due to Midlothian's rapid expansion with ZERO investment in our road networks.
Many residents from Rosewell and Bonnyrigg use the B7003 for access to Straiton Retail Park, The Bush, The Edinburgh City Bypass and the park and ride facilities at Straiton to access the city centre.

The council are grossly overestimating the benefits of closing the road.
-Local horse riders are currently using the surrounding old railway lines and there is little benefit to use the B7003 over existing routes.
-Foot paths along the road are sufficient for the level of pedestrians currently using them. Other than the final part into Roslin, which lacks investment from Midlothian Council and needs to be addressed.
-The level of physical fitness required to cycle Roslin Glen is very high. Casual cyclists are extremely unlikely to take this route.
- The quantity of people likely to use this road for commuting via bicycle is being greatly exaggerated. Especially with winter approaching, the amount of people cycling are likely to decline sharply.~
-It is unlikely to have any impact on the Covid-19 situation, I am pretty sure nobody has caught Covid driving down Roslin Glen.

The council has not fully considered the impact to road traffic by closing the road.
- Traffic will most likely move to use Polton Rd and Hillhead B704 and via Lasswade, which is already extremely congested due to a road network that is not fit for purpose.
- The route mentioned above is also an extremely popular cycling route, adding more vehicles is likely to have a negative impact on cyclists who use this route.
- The added pollution due to the increased congestion is against the council and governments commitments to better air quality and tackling climate change.
- Due to a busier Lasswade, the congestion will also extend to the already congested Sheriffhall as motorists try to find a more cost effective and time efficient route.
- Being advised against using public transport how are we expected to travel.

There has been zero public consultation and just highlights how out of touch and incompetent Midlothian Council is.
