I am personally passionate about ensuring every woman has the option to SAFELY and ANONYMOUSLY surrender a baby if she feels unable to parent the child. I believe in offering all women the safety net a Safe Haven Baby Box provides - a truly anonymous, safe, and legal alternative to child. 

All 50 states have Safe Haven laws. But requiring a mother to surrender her baby face to face isn’t fair. Regardless of the mother’s motivation to surrender, there is still a stigma and guilt attached. Mother’s deserve privacy and anonymity when making one of the toughest and most selfless decisions they will ever make in their life. 

Midland is currently missing this essential service, leaving some of our community's most vulnerable without a safe option. The installation of a Safe Haven Baby Box in our town could potentially save lives. There are already at least 15 states in the US that have Safe Haven Baby Boxes installed, aimed at reducing the number of newborns abandoned or surrendered in unsafe conditions [Safe Haven Baby Boxes, 2020].

There are at least two babies found deceased throughout the United States each month due to illegal abandonment [Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, 2020].

We need to take action for the wellbeing of our community's most vulnerable. Let's strive together to bring a Safe Haven Baby Box to Midland and give those in crisis a safe and legal option to surrender their newborn, ensuring the safety and health of our future generations.
