Recently the notorious Christopher Columbus Statue that stood in Harbor Park, has been removed temporary for groundwork in the premise. Now that it is currently not standing it is the ideal time to insure that it does not return. Harbor Park is a public space with a lot of potential that can benefit the community. The history of Christopher Columbus needs no explanation, and has no place in such a diverse loving city, like Middletown. Christopher Columbus does not represent the Italian communities values and morals. There is other ways to attribute to culture and heritage. The riverfront belongs to the people of Middletown, and should always be a welcoming and safe space.
