Port MechWarrior's 1-4 to Steam. (bundle them with all addons and mekpaks, graphics lift)
The Issue
Hello Friends,
I hope today I can share with you my vision for a return of some of the most iconic Battletech™ computer games ever produced. Namely those of the ‘Mechwarrior’ series.
The MechWarrior games are some of the most iconic ‘mech simulator games available on PC, certainly titles such as MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries, which is seen by many dedicated fans as the most definitive ‘mech simulator game in not only the franchise itself but of all time. Even non Mechwarrior fans might agree with this as the game was amazing for its time.
With the release of Mechwarrior Online on Steam the franchise has risen in popularity a lot recently. Because of this, I and possibly thousands of other Mechwarrior fans (or ‘mech fans in general) would absolutely love to relive or try out the older MechWarrior games.
Why do we ask for this?
Now, you may just ask "Why not just buy the games normally"?
Well, here's the thing, the MechWarrior games aren’t immediately compatible with a lot of modern technology/windows/PC'S, even PC gamers with the most advanced or powerful PC builds that can run any game on the most advanced settings with ease, yet whenever they try to play the older MechWarrior games (MW'S 3 and 4 are great examples) the games play very choppy to the point where they're unplayable.
However if Microsoft Studios could with a little work port Mechwarrior 1-4 to a popular platform such as Steam, patch them so they're compatible with today's PC'S and operating systems.
It would be a fantastic opportunity to modernise the games, give them a graphics lift, achievement support, online support and bundle all 4 games with their add-ons (MW1 doesn't have any addons, MW 2 with it's Ghost Bear's Legacy expansion pack, MW3 with its Pirate's Moon expansion pack, and MW4 Mercenaries with its Black Knight expansion pack and all the mekpak add-ons.).
This would not only make me personally extremely happy but the thousands of other fans who either want to relive these games or those that might play them for the first time.
Why Steam?
Having the games on Steam would also help the franchise a lot as it can draw in more fans and it could allow people to play the games with their friends on Steam. I'll list the price for the games based on how much I’d expect them to be:
· MechWarrior 1: 3$
· MechWarrior 2: 5$
· MechWarrior 3: 10$
· MechWarrior 4: 15$.
They could either release all these games separately or just sell them in a bundle that could cost somewhere around 20-30$.
Steam also has quite a few other older/classic titles on it, so why not add in the MW 1-4 games? They're begging for a port to Steam if you ask me, so Microsoft Studios, please consider this idea. Thanks.
Together we can make a difference
Let us, the fans of this classic series tell Microsoft that there is still interest in these games, and that it could be a fantastic option for them to re-release them, together we can tell them we want this to happen, and I hope you’ll join me in asking for it to come about.
Thank you.
