Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 and giving it security updates awhile ago. The Free Software Foundation created a campaign called "Upcycle Windows 7" to open source it. I want to take this further. I want ALL unsupported versions of Windows, from Windows 1 through Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 stopped getting mainstream support in 2018, and all Windows 8 support ended in 2016), and ALL unsupported versions of Windows Server INCLUDED, to be open sourced under a copyleft license like the GNU GPL.

In my opinion, seeing as Microsoft does own Github, it shouldn't be hard to open source those versions. It would be good for the community, and Microsoft says that they like open source, so why don't they open source the versions they're not making a profit on? I say "Not making a profit on" because I recognize the fact that they're a company and have to make profits in order to stay in business and not collapse. Who knows, maybe one day Microsoft will actually lead the world with open source software? Here's everything I want open sourced (I'm starting with the non-server ones):
