Throughout the current COVID pandemic, freelance musicians have been particularly hard hit financially.  In some case, like in the UK, up to 70% of musicians are being forced to change profession or even leave the country in order to survive.  

Due to the setup many governments have for individual furlough schemes, c countless self employed artists are not eligible for funding.  Unfortunately the result in many cases is families going without income for months on end, and resorting to living off handouts, or attempting to find other work, which can be near impossible during the crisis we are facing. 

Full time employment as a musician is not only a modern phenomenon, but a privilege which only a small percentage of the musical community have had the luck of achieving. The backbone of the musical commuity is made of freelance musicians, and I am trying to start an initiative with the aim of supporting the freelance community, beginning with putting on concerts in aid of freelance musicians, and employing the players themselves in concerts, creating a platform for the public to hear these wonderful artists who put so much energy and care into bringing culture to our lives.
