Open Fraternal Organizations

Open Fraternal Organizations
The Issue
We need your help to save Michigan's Fraternal Orders!
Charitable Fraternal Orders, that are bound by the rules of the Michigan Health Department, (Eagles, Elk, K of C, Odd Fellows, Moose, Shriners, to name a very few) have been shut down by the State for most of 2020, and now spilling into 2021. The shutdowns started as days, that turned into weeks, that turned into months.
Charitable Fraternal Organizations through Their Membership are directly responsible in raising hundreds of millions of dollars to Help, Individuals, Communities, State, Country, and Hundred’s of Charitable Associations.
Yet these same Organizations have still had to pay their full property taxes, and their annual fees to the State to renew their liquor license, with no allowances or reductions for the time they were shut down by the government.
This petition asks the House and Senate of the State of Michigan to help Charitable Fraternal Organizations survive by immediately passing legislation to (1) give them credit against their future property taxes for those property taxes paid in 2020 for any days that they were shut down by the State, (2) waive the 2021 liquor license renewal fees for on-premise liquor licensees whose business was closed by governmental order during 2020, (3) Motivate Robert Gordon, Director of Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services to Allow these Organizations to Reopen Immediately so they can start to get back to Helping Those In Need.
