The City of Boston vaccine passport mandate violates ones civil liberties. The right to privacy and the right to travel freely are guaranteed under the Constitution. The Boston vaccine passport mandate which is not a law, as well violates ones civil rights. The rights of individuals to be free from unfair or unequal treatment. Therefore, unvaccinated students, judges, and advisors of MA-DECA should be granted the same exemption as other organizations, such as the New England Volleyball Association has for the Boston Volleyball Festival on 2/25-2/27/22 and 3/4-3/6/22. In which, coaches, athletes, and staff listed on their roster are exempt from the vaccine mandate for this years event. This is in essence discrimination of unvaccinated persons in MA-DECA based on medical vaccination status. Any type of discrimination, whether it is based on race, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or medical status is a violation of the fourteenth amendment and civil rights. "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." In addition, most students are minors. As such, their medical status lies within their parents and legal guardians. All members have put so much time, work, and effort into the District competition in order to qualify for the State competition. It is unfair to segregate and thus discriminate against unvaccinated students. All participants should be allowed to supply a negative covid test or positive antibody test in lieu of vaccination passport mandate. Therefore, all unvaccinated students, judges, and advisors should be exempt from the vaccine passport mandate, for the MA-DECA State conference from 3/10-3/12/22 at the Marriott Copley Hotel and Convention Center in Boston, MA.
