Prong collars have inward-facing spikes that pierce the flesh of the dogs that are forced to wear them. They are unnecessary, inhumane, and should be banned as soon as possible.

Lisa Guiney is a dog adoption officer with London-based charity Mayhew Animal Home. She has helped a number of dogs who have suffered the repercussions of being forced to wear these collars. She has said that bruising or swelling usually occurs around the neck, and that the spikes sometimes pierce the skin. The unimaginable pain that these collars undoubtedly cause should not be suffered by any living creature.
