Safiya Satchell is a 33 year-old black woman that had a brutal encounter with the Miami Gardens Police Department. Safiya was dragged out of her car by officer Jody Martel onto ground forcefully. He then proceeded to kneel on her neck and then tase her stomach. Safiya was pregnant during this encounter and it ultimately ended in the death of her unborn child. Officer Martel had also lied in his police report of the encounter, claiming that Safiya was “resisting arresest”. “Officer Martel has been fired from the department and is only being charged with battery. We demand that Jody Martel is charged with not only battery but,  fetal homicide for the wrongful death of her unborn child. Safiya has not only endured physical pain but as well as, emotional trauma. Please help bring justice to Safiya Satchell!
