Have you ever wondered why there is so little solar power in this state even though Florida ranks third in solar capacity? 

The major reason is because Florida's energy monopolies helped get a law on the books that bans solar panel leasing programs, known as power purchase agreements (PPAs) that make solar easy and affordable. Florida is one of only four states that has this express prohibition.

PPAs can benefit budget strapped schools by an average of $16,000 per year by reducing energy costs. They are perfect for solar with their big flat roofs and daytime energy needs.

Schools can be living energy efficiency STEM laboratories that give students hands-on access to renewable energy technology and exposure to green vocational careers.

Schools also serve as hurricane shelters and with solar and a back up battery, they can be off the grid when the power goes down. 

Our schools should be able to access affordable solar for savings, safety, and learning.
