MF 46 BUS ROUTE TO BE RESTORED FULLY TO ORIGINAL STATUS

MF 46 BUS ROUTE TO BE RESTORED FULLY TO ORIGINAL STATUS
The Issue
Thousands of residents in Provident Sunworth, VBHC, Doddabele, Swati Nagar, Brindavan Layout, and Good Earth have relied on the BMTC MF 46 Route for daily commuting. This service, launched a year ago, had stabilized and was serving a vital need for school students, college-goers, office workers, domestic staff, and businesspeople.
However, as of May 27, 2025, the route has been drastically reduced to just two trips in the morning and two in the evening, causing severe inconvenience to thousands of commuters.
Officials claim that the service was cut due to a lack of revenue. This is inaccurate, as the route consistently generated at least ₹5,000 per day—higher than some long-route buses that make less than ₹3,000. Public transport should prioritize commuter needs, not just revenue figures.
We urge the Chief Traffic Controller, BMTC, and Manager of Depot 12 to reinstate the MF 46 Route to its original frequency, ensuring proper service along the following key areas:
Kengeri TTMC → Provident Sunworth (via Brindavan Layout, Swati Nagar, Doddabele Colony, Appu Circle & VBHC)
Provident Sunworth → Kengeri TTMC (via Good Earth, Challaghatta Metro Station, Kengeri Metro Station & Kengeri Police Station)
We also request the intervention of MP Shri S.T. Somashekar to support his constituency members in restoring this essential service.
