We have had an increasing number of Covid-19 outbreaks in Audrain County. This, unfortunately, has also affected our schools and the ability for our educators to effectively teach our children and has hindered the children's ability to attend classes. My proposal is a modification of the attendance schedules of every school in our district starting January 1st, 2021. My plan is as follows:

Half of the schools population (Group Red) would be in attendance on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The other half (Group Gray) would be in attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The following week, Group Gray would be in attendance on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Groups Red would be in attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This alternating schedule would continue until an end date implemented by the school board. This would effectively minimize the spread of Covid-19 by allowing more opportunity for social distancing as well as more opportunity for janitorial staff to sanitize classrooms, bathrooms, lockers, walls, and areas where large numbers of students congregate such as the cafeteria and gyms. 

This is a chance for our community to save itself and save the future of the education of its children. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read this petition. I would also like to thank our educators in the Mexico School District for stepping up during this pandemic and still giving our children a chance at normalcy and an education.
