Water problems in Kragbron

This petition is one of 5 petitions in the movement "Water Crisis In South Africa."Learn more about the movement.

The Issue

We as the community in Kragbron near Sasolburg have experienced water problems since 27 November 2021. We have constant water supply problems and have to do with 3-4 hours water a day! The local municipality, Metsimaholo blames Rand Water for shortages and that they have to switch off pumps but they state that the water they send to us is enough and the problem is with the landlord LSP. LSP always refers us back to the municipality and blames them for the problems. We engaged with political parties and stakeholders, but they keep on shifting the blame to one another. LSP, the landlord, refers us to Metsimaholo and they insist we have enough water sent our way. We as residents are also limited by the fact that we pay LSP for water and thus have no real mandate to speak to the municipality as we are not account holders. We pay LSP for water invoiced to us! We just get promises that they are working on the problem. The last 3 days we just had drops of water at a time. There is school in this community and it will lead to a humanitarian crisis before long. We just want the service we pay for rendered to us! Excuses range from pumps, to reservoirs being empty and now Loadshedding. Loadshedding started a week ago, but we had the last 3 weeks with water problems after a 3 week interval with no issues!
