TWO RIVERS DOG PARK CHANGES Suitable for Dog Welfare

The Issue

Pet owners from all around have enjoyed taking their dog's to the most beautiful park in Nashville area called Two Rivers Dog Park, situated in Donelson, TN 37214.In consideration for the pets, their are some needed changes in a few elements of it's design. So as a group we wish to address these concerns by creating a petition people could sign to voice their concerns for the dogs as well. Including possibly fencing in a section as we walk in on the right or left for puppies or small dogs.

#1 IMPORTANCE: keeping pets of all ages COOL and HYDRATED while playing in this beautiful 7 acre dog park. Our concerns could be met by appropriate covered dog water fountains for their level and size accommodation, please look at pictures at 'Bonnie Wenk' dog park at 3050 Virginia Parkway, McKinney, Tx). They would be in 3 places: Area where the fountain is now the entrance, a second and third would be half way down on right, and at the end where there seems to have been run offs of some sort. The majority of the pet owners I have spoken with seem to agree that a  SPLASH PAD (see sample above form Bonnie Wenk dog park as well), would allow pets the choice to drink individually, cool down, play or/and socialize. This as well covered Splash Pad is designed in such a way that there would be no mud forming near it to get filthy in. The Pad could also be designed to be solar powered saving power. I would be more than happy to offer my volunteer services overseeing the design of The Pad and changes needed.

2nd IMPORTANCE is with the SAFETY concern are the deep holes in the grass needed to be filled and checked regularly for safety of both humans or dogs alike. At that same maintenance time there could be organic treatment for fleas and ticks sprayed on ground, mowing of any tall grass area, accommodating the breeding of fleas and ticks. Also a safety concern is the requests to removal of any pointy or jagged rocks placed about the park that have caused injuries when landed upon by pets, along with the fact that they are mostly used as dog urinal items.

We realize that you have made a request and are looking forward to our feedback during this a trial improvement period as we are of yours. We look forward to these successful changes enhancing not only Two Rivers Dog Park but also the other dog parks. Just as we have benefited from the designs and functionality of Bonnie Wenk Dog Park, McKinney TX.

Respectfully yours,

Animal Care givers
