This petition is to remove the Methuen Public Schools’ dress codes. Dress code are a one-sided weighted attack on female self expression, identity, and self esteem.

Dress codes sexualize and objectify women from a young age and teach them shame when they have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. And that shame lives ingrained inside of them. It takes years and sometimes decades to undo the shame the educations dress codes reap into female minds. Some never heal from the embarrassment and humiliation.  

Dress codes are sexist and discriminatory.

It is time to adopt an anti-policy. Districts in western states like Oregon and California have begun following the Oregon Now Method with success.  I believe our students would benefit and succeed. Please take a look at the Oregon now method.
