Hold Mercari responsible for its failures!
The Issue
Mercari is a big problem. Since I started using Mercari, I have had countless problems. As a seller on many sites, starting back when eBay first started, I can honestly say that I have had more issues with Mercari in two years than every other site I have ever used over the past 25 years and I know many other sellers are in the same boat. They have a record of poor customer service and constantly have many issues, for example, right before Christmas they failed to pay thousands of sellers for money owed violating their own rules, then made up excuse after excuse, to what I believe was flat out lying to us, to hide whatever was really going on. They don't like to give answers outside their most famous one, quote, "We are constantly improving our services in order to cater to the needs of our dear consumers like you. I'm sorry for not satisfying your request at this time, and we promise to do our best to develop our policies and services in the future." When they say that, they think that's enough, yet they fail again and again, after this delay, a similar issue happened this week where sellers were not paid on time per their own policies.
We sellers have to ship things before we get paid, we have three days to do so. Once the buyer gets the item, we get paid when they leave feedback, or we have to wait three days if buyers don't rate us. Then we have to wait 3-5 business days for that deposit to go through, yet they continue to have issues delaying this so we are waiting a month to get paid in many cases, but before Christmas, when so many people needed money, they ruined Christmas for many people and cannot get these issues set.
On top of these issues, there have been many others I have dealt with and I have heard horror stories from many others. It happens again and again and again and there are only two reasons this could happen, fraud or gross incompetence, the fact that Mercari does its best not to answer questions or help makes either even worse.
Mercari needs to be investigated for their behavior and audited to see why they are not paying the sellers on time. Far too many people have had issues with this site and its time to hold them accountable. They expect all the sellers to follow their policies yet they cannot follow their own policies, you cannot be a site that refuses to follow your own rules and force others to do so. I want everyone who has been affected by Mercari's behavior to join me to call for the state of California and the Department of Justice to get involved and get us the answers they continue to hide from us. This isn't a one time event, these issues happen daily and its time to hold them accountable.
