CALL FOR SENATE HEARING ON MERALCO BILLING
The Issue
“Since some meters were not read during the ECQ period, some March and all April bills were estimated based on the past 3 months’ average daily consumption following the Distribution Services and Open Access Rules (DSOAR) issued by the ERC.”
Contrary to what they said, we’ve seen a lot of photos in social media with graph of the previous months’ consumption and it doesn’t add up as a 3 month average. Most business establishments have closed their doors for 3 months but the electricity consumption doubled and even tripled for some. How did that happen when no one is using it.
Meralco is taking advantage of the situation. And this needs to be addressed by the SENATE, this needs to STOP. Giving your consumers an installment option is NO HELP AT ALL. Bayanihan Heal as One Act is supposed to make Filipinos lives less difficult despite the pandemic we are all facing. Seeing inaccuracy in your billing statement is already stressful, worrisome and a burden to all of its consumers. Meralco needs to make the correct adjustments NOW.
We aim to reach 1,000,000 signatures and call for a SENATE hearing. We ask the SENATE to conduct an investigation as we, the consumers, consider Meralco’s action a mockery to the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act.
