Story

Footy has always been more than just a game in Australia. It’s community, passion, identity, and belonging. The AFL brings millions of us together every week. But behind the cheers, the rivalries, and the big moments, there’s something we don’t talk about enough.

Mental health.

Every year, thousands of Australians struggle in silence. Players, fans, families — no one is immune. We’ve seen glimpses of it at the elite level, but the conversation often fades as quickly as it appears.

That’s why I’m starting this movement.

I’m calling on the AFL to introduce an official Mental Health Round — a dedicated week where the entire football community comes together to raise awareness, break stigma, and show support for those doing it tough.

Imagine this

Clubs wearing themed guernseys to represent mental health awareness

Stadiums filled with messages of support instead of silence

Broadcasters, players, and fans openly talking about

mental wellbeing

Funds raised going directly to mental health services and support programs

This isn’t just about one round of football it’s about saving lives, starting conversations, and showing people they’re not alone.

We’ve seen how powerful sport can be in driving change. From Indigenous Round to Pride initiatives, the AFL has the platform to make a real difference. Now it’s time to use that platform for mental health.

But we need your help.

By signing this petition and supporting this campaign, you’re sending a clear message to the AFL. Mental health matters. And it deserves to be seen, heard, and supported on the biggest stage.

If you can, please also consider donating. Funds will go toward.

Promoting this campaign nationwide
Partnering with mental health organisations

Ensuring this movement reaches the people who need it most

Together, we can turn a conversation into action.

Together, we can make sure no one feels alone.
