The Issue

As a woman, I understand that every body is different. Some experience mild discomfort during their period, while others endure intense pain, fatigue, or sickness.

Menstruation is a sacred, natural part of life — a time when the body is cleansing and renewing itself. It should be a time of stillness, rest, and care. Yet, women are still expected to work and perform at full capacity, even when their bodies are calling for pause and restoration.

For those with menstrual disorders or conditions, the experience can be unbearable. No one should have to push through that kind of pain just to keep their job or their income.

This petition isn’t just about time off — it’s about honoring women’s health, dignity, and humanity.

Menstrual leave isn’t only a women’s issue — it’s a community issue.

When women are supported, families, workplaces, and entire communities thrive. Men, as partners, fathers, brothers, friends, and leaders, have a vital role to play in this change. Supporting menstrual leave is about compassion, respect, and fairness — values we all share.

A society that honors the needs of women creates balance for everyone. When we normalize conversations about menstrual health, we remove stigma and build empathy across all genders.

We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. Department of Labor and all employers nationwide to establish a Paid Menstrual Leave Policy that allows women up to 1–3 paid days off per month for rest and recovery.

Countries like Spain, Japan, and Indonesia already recognize menstrual leave as a matter of health, equality, and dignity. It’s time for the U.S. to do the same.

Let’s make compassion part of our culture — and give women the rest they deserve.

Sign this petition to support women’s health, dignity, and community care in the workplace. Together, we can make menstrual leave a national standard.
