Menomonee Falls Indians Mascot

Menomonee Falls Indians Mascot

The Issue

Menomonee Falls Village has rich history of honoring and respecting the Menomonee, Chippewa and Algonquin's who first founded the area we now call Menomonee Falls. When I was educated in the District, I had many classes/lessons discussing the history of Menomonee Falls, educating me on the Indians we owe gratitude to, for this land. Our Village is rich in Indian history and culture.

While many people want to make the Menomonee Falls High School Mascot (The Indians) offensive, it isn't. It wasn't that way when most of us graduated from The Falls. I came back form college and found that the Indian logo had changed to a F, with feathers. Actually, that was amazing, much more politically correct. .

The School Board of Menomonee Falls wants to make this decision themselves- but this includes many of us who graduated, the community/village who supports these students, people who moved here, so our kids could be a part of these amazing tradition and school district, Graduating as a Menomonee Falls Indian.

There are to many unanswered questions about this mascot change, until someone from the School Board decides to tell us Graduates/tax payers where the money is coming from to pay for this change, we expect the School Board to do what it was elected to do, focus on the education of our children. The School Board in the past, has taken on the Wisconsin Association of School Boards- to Keep the Indians Mascot- why can't they now?
