Petition updateSave The Ukiah Animal Shelter! The Time Is Now...
Paws to Adopt
Nov 22, 2014
NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT, fellow supporters of the Ukiah Animal Shelter! The December 9th deadline is quickly approaching and we need to continue gathering as many signatures as possible. If the Ukiah Animal Shelter does indeed become integrated under the Sheriff’s Office, there will be a greater uphill battle getting it back under Health and Human Services Agency than to just keep it where it is now. We can assure you of this. So, PLEASE continue to share this petition through social media and discuss this cause with other Mendocino County locals. Our goal is to get 2,000 signatures by December 1st, so let’s accomplish our goal together! There has been significant community support, support from surrounding communities, adopters, potential adopters, and rescue organizations to KEEP the Mendocino Animal Care Services as a unit of Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency and NOT integrated under law enforcement. So, THANK YOU! We continue to encourage you all to write to the Board of Supervisors and especially NOW to CEO Carmel Angelo and Director of Health and Human Services, Stacey Cryer. As the deadline gets closer, we believe this topic is being circulated and discussed within the Mendocino County government. So, more than ever WE NEED LETTERS sent! Please consider sending a letter even if you have already sent one in, as it is very important that it is known the support for KEEPING the Ukiah Animal Shelter where it remains strong! To reiterate from our last update, we will only have a 72 hour notice for when the evaluation of the pros and cons of this proposed change to re-integrate Animal Control and Animal Care as a single operational unit under the Sheriff’s Office - from H&HAS Director Stacey Cryer and Sheriff Tom Allman - are presented to the Board of Supervisors. We ALL have to be present at this meeting so we can voice our opinions and save the animals! The dates of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors’ Meeting in December are the 2nd, 9th and 16th, so please keep checking the Agenda. The Agenda is posted 72 hours prior to a BOS Meeting, which are on Tuesdays in December. Each Agenda is posted around 5:00 pm or later on Thursdays. There is an “Interested Party Roster”, which anyone can get on by phoning Tim Mitchell at the Executive Office: 707-463-4441 (ask for Tim) and request to be put on the roster for ANY BOS Agenda items regarding Animal Care Services and/or Animal Control Services. WE WILL NEED AS MANY SUPPORTERS AS POSSIBLE WHEN THIS ITEM COMES BEFORE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND WE WILL ONLY HAVE 72 HOURS TO NOTIFY EVERYONE! Please continue to share this petition through email, Facebook, Twitter and Craigslist. It is more important then ever to get the word out as we get closer to this item coming before the Board of Supervisors. Again, thank you ALL so very much for your continued support! The shelter animals thank you as well as wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Together, we can KEEP the Mendocino Animal Care Services as a unit of Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency and NOT integrated under Law enforcement. Hopefully, next Thanksgiving we will be giving thanks to the Board of Supervisors for keeping the shelter where it is so we can continue to save as many animals as possible!!!!
