Paws to Adopt
Feb 13, 2015
Over a month ago now, we presented you all with a new exciting option for the Ukiah Animal Shelter and that being for a credible and established nonprofit organization to take over the care and sheltering of these animals. Since then we have been hard at work meeting with the County Executive Office, Health & Human Services Agency, the Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and City of Ukiah, which we would like to thank for all their generous time and input during this process. All which have expressed support of our new option. Together, we believe we have come up with the best solution for our animals and community of Mendocino County… Now, the moment you have all been waiting for has come! Who is the nonprofit group who has expressed interest? What could the future hold for our beloved animal shelter? On February 17th at the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors’ Meeting find out about all the options for the Ukiah Animal Shelter and YOU decide what is BEST for the ANIMALS. We, a group of dedicated volunteers of the Ukiah Animal Shelter, believe we have found the best option for the animals and that being for Petaluma Animal Services Foundation to run our animal shelter. We are so incredibly fortunate to have this credible and well established nonprofit interested in our county run shelter. We believe they are on the cutting edge of animal sheltering and our community would be so incredibly lucky to have this nonprofit in our neck of the woods! Petaluma Animal Services Foundation is innovative and proven successful. Often, they have been in the news for having gotten all their animals adopted and being empty momentarily as they are so excellent in placing animals and reuniting lost pets with their families. They have a 99.53% live release rate. On average, cats stay 25.9 days and dogs only 9.2 days! We believe this is an amazing opportunity for our community. We encourage you to join us at the Board of Supervisors’ Meeting on the 17th of February at 9:15 a.m. to voice for exploring this option of Petaluma Animal Services Foundation managing the operations of the Ukiah Animal Shelter. For more information, here is the agenda for Tuesday, February 17th: http://www.co.mendocino.ca.us/bos/meetings/PublishedMeetings.htm. We want to thank everyone for the amazing support throughout this whole journey. We believe with your support, the support of the County, the Sheriff’s Office and Petaluma Animal Services Foundation, our local animal shelter will be the future of animal sheltering. Let’s do what is RIGHT for the animals. The future of the animals in our community is in our hands… Now, it is the time to act! It is time for a 99.53% live release rate. It is time for all animals to be adopted or reunited with their families in less than a month. It is time for the future. Let’s make the future of animal sheltering NOW. We’re ready, how about you?
