Mendip District Council  intend to re-introduce pitch fees to Shepton Mallet stall-holders in December currently £27/pitch.  This is a small amount of money in total for MDC but significant to our traders who have struggled during this year.   Re-introducing charges at this time, after lockdown, and before the two worst trading months of the year, will jeopardise the future of the market for the sake of very little money to MDC (and jeopardise the long term income from the market if it remains viable.)  We love our market and we want it to survive! It is more than just a place to buy things: it is at the heart of our community.

We the undersigned petition MDC to postpone the re-introduction of stall-holder charges until April 2021 at the earliest.
