Street Naming in Honor of Anthony D’Abbraccio

The Issue

Anthony D’Abbraccio was a beloved member of the pelham bay community. He passed away this last August after his short but brave battle with lung cancer. He leaves behind a loving family including 2 children who have created a foundation in his memory to give back to community programs and families in need.
Anthony played an active role in his children’s lives. He coached for St. Theresa basketball, AFC rapids Soccer, Pelham Bay Little league and Throggs Neck Little League.  He volunteered his time as a coach for many years, participated in local events and was an active member of the Pelham Bay community. The Anthony D’Abbraccio Foundation was created by his family and friends to honor his name and raise money for local schools, sports programs and families in crisis. After a recent fundraiser attended by over 200 local community members donations over $15,000 have been made to these programs. Anthony’s presence in this community will be missed and this street naming, along with the foundation is a wonderful way for his children  to see the impact he had on this community and for his presence to be memorialized. Please help us rename the corner of Mayflower and Waterbury Avenue in memory of Anthony D’Abbraccio.
