Parrish Park (Titusville) Kiteboarding Access Is At Risk! - Use Your Voice To Save It
The Issue
PARRISH PARK ACCESS IS AT RISK!
Everyone NOW is the time for the community to step up, be heard, and make a difference in the outcome of the development of Parrish Park. Please join us in our effort to maintain access points and minimize features as Brevard County embarks on Parrish Park planning activities.
Located in Titusville on both sides of State Road 402, Parrish Park provides access to the Indian River Lagoon for fishing and watersports. Brevard County is proposing the development of a trailhead at Parrish Park for the Florida Coast-to-Coast Trail. The C2C Trail is designed to be a continuous paved multi-use trail that stretches across the state of Florida from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.
The planning of this development is upon us-- don’t miss your opportunity to speak up and influence a positive outcome! We ask that you join us in our effort to ensure the voices of those who use Parrish Park to access the river are heard and our interests considered as Brevard County Parks and Recreation Department plans the development of the site. BE ADVISED: the proposed modifications have the potential to negatively affects access to the Indian River at Parrish Park for rowers, kiters, kayakers, windsurfers, sailors and paddle boarders.
Brevard County has already produced park concept renderings and design drawings; they are asking for the public’s input on the project and are holding a community meeting from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. NEXT WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2nd, at Parrish Park in Titusville, which is open to all.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
SIGN the petition to show your support for not obstructing river access with development features.
SHARE the petition with others and encourage people you know to sign.
ATTEND the meeting at Parrish Park next Wednesday, 10/2 to have your voice heard and show your support for limiting restrictive development.
EMAIL or CALL the project representatives below and share your concerns regarding the potential restriction of access as a result of the proposed development features.
THE PETITION
Our petition is intended to bring together the voices of many into one, clear and common position of those who use and are grateful for the natural, unrestricted access Parrish Park provides, to urge the County to minimize development that would inhibit water access. This includes an emphasis on the importance of:
•Preserving access points to enter/exit the river
•Maintaining open spaces for multi-use that are adjacent to the water and free of obstructions such as trees, tables and pavilions.
•Minimizing or eliminating the implementation of vertical landscaping and light poles
•Not crowding shoreline with parking spaces
