My son Kawanza Jamal Beaty was shot in the head on the 4th of July by Officer Gibson of the Newport News Police Department in Virginia.  This officer has also shot and paralyzed another young man in Newport News and is still allowed to work for the police department.  This officer shot my son in the back of his head and shot the other young man 11 times.  We are trying to have get this officer charged with 1st degree murder in the death of my son before he decides to kill another young black man.  We are also requesting on our petition that all officers should be wearing body cams and their vehicle cams should be on at all times.  Our last request is when police are involved in shootings they should be on administrative leave without pay.
