Keep Short Term Rentals Legal in Nashville

Keep Short Term Rentals Legal in Nashville
The Issue
There is a critical meeting coming up and Council Members are considering a moratorium with a phase out or an outright ban of ALL Type 2 and Type 3 short term rentals. Council Members have went from talking about halting the issuance of new permits to talking about eliminating existing permits after some period of time.
Just this past December my family rented a house so we could have a large enough space to comfortably gather for Christmas. Not only did we have a great time being together, we also patronized local businesses. It doesn't seem right to deny consumers this ability or take money away from our local businesses.
If you agree please sign my petition to deliver to Mayor Megan Barry.
Key Terms:
- Short-term rentals are for a period of no more than 30 days.
There are three designations, or classes, for short-term rental properties (STPRs):
- Type-1, which is owner occupied. This is a homeowner who rents out a spare bedroom or in-law suite;
- Type-2, which is non-owner occupied, who rent out an entire house; and
- Type-3, which is non-owner occupied multi-family, three or more units.
