I am partitioning for a Basic first aid course to be part of antenatal classes. I believe there should be a government-funded basic first aid course available to all expecting parents. 1 in 13 children visit hospitals for emergencies or injuries each year! One of the leading causes is choking, along with asthma, falls and breathing difficulties. Parents must know how to react in an emergency.

If they put in place a 1-hour course covering
-Basic first aid;
-How to react to choking;
-The importance of supervision around water and food;
-Common baby/toddler preventable accidents and
-Who, how, and when to seek medical attention.

By implementing this recourse, we could prevent hundreds of childhood injuries, give parents guidance in an emergency, and reduce casualties. Let us free up emergency rooms and give parents the confidence they deserve!
