Meat and Dairy Without Killing Animals!

Meat and Dairy Without Killing Animals!
The Issue
Millions of animals die every day to produce the food we eat. Every day, 205 million animals are killed, butchered, and consumed worldwide. The food industry wreaks havoc on the climate and biodiversity, making it harmful not only to animals but also to the planet.
Modern animal agriculture isn’t simply fields of grazing sheep and cows. It is a vast industry that spans the entire planet and involves billions of animals. From birth, they are transported on a bloody conveyor belt that leads to our plates.
What if we didn't need animal-derived proteins like meat, cheese, and milk, but could produce them in another way using animal-free protein technologies, such as plant-based cultured meat or one of the most exciting new technologies: precision fermentation. It seems like a no-brainer, doesn't it?
These new technologies could change everything, but they need to be developed rapidly. We cannot afford to wait for the private sector; the UK must advance these technologies, just as they have for wind and solar energy.
Imagine a world where millions of animals are not slaughtered every day, where we can return large swaths of land to nature, and where we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while enjoying perfect meat, milk, and cheese that taste just like the products we obtain today by killing animals. This world is a real possibility.
Precision fermentation turns tiny friendly microbes into protein-producing machines. Thanks to these revolutionary techniques, perfect meat, milk, and cheese with the same taste but now without animals are within reach of British consumers. But not without the urgent investment of the UK Government.
Unfortunately, the food industry is a powerful player, and it does not want to change. If we want to be heard, we need as many people as possible to sign this petition addressed to Rishi Sunak, asking the UK Government to make this forward-looking investment.
We know that the UK Government responds to public pressure. If we can convince Rishi Sunak to invest in these technologies now, it will create jobs, save millions of animals from slaughter, and help combat biodiversity loss and climate change.
